State Anthem versus National Anthem

The Madya Pradesh government is going to introduce singing of the State Anthem along with the Naional Anthem compulsory in all the educational and government institutions from the First of July 2011. This has come as a surprising step from a state ruled by the BJP which professes to work for the National Unity and integrity of the country. The party which advocated strongly in favour of single citizenship throughout has knowingly or unknowingly fostered the cry for dual citizenship which shall be fatal for the national unity and integrity of this  country. The other states might follow in the footsteps of the far reaching decision of the Madhya Pradesh government. This would pave the way for dual citizenship in the country which is why the proposal should be stopped by the Central government and the President in the nation’s interest. The question  at present before the millions of citizens of this country is the maintenance of national unity which we have been able to after a long interval of foreign aggression and domination. The problems of Jammu & Kashmir, Assam and the North east as well the various regional movements being carried will further deteriorate if this national convention is broken. I would also appeal through my blog to the national leadership of BJP to reconsider this dangerous step which may cost the party which is known for its nationalist penchant. The people too have regard to this party and they see it as a national alternative to the present ruling combine. But if it sticks to its vote catching device like this it may lose the respectability which it still commands among millions of non partisan citizens of the Hindusthan.
